Cataract Canyon

Upstream of the Grand Canyon, beyond Lake Powell Reservoir, the Colorado River drifts quietly along and then plunges into Cataract Canyon, one of the more challenging stretches of water in the west. A Cataract Canyon trip passes through gorgeous Canyonlands country, past the mouth of the Green River, and through major stretches of whitewater. Some of the rapids are extreme so a Cataract Canyon trip requires some careful timing to hit optimal flow conditions.
